Top Tips For Protecting Your Skin In The Sun

Top Tips For Protecting Your Skin In The Sun

Ready to enjoy the sunshine this summer? Our founder and CEO Alyson Hogg shares her top tips for keeping skin healthy and protected in the sun.

Using sun protection every day, especially on areas that are exposed like your face, neck, arms and hands, is really important for protecting against harmful ultraviolet rays.

Not sunny? These UV rays can penetrate clouds with ease, so it’s advisable to protect your skin even when you can’t see the sun. The benefits of using organic SPF skincare means that there are no chemical preservatives that are often found in sunscreens which can irritate the skin.

Instead, natural skin conditioning ingredients repair and nourish, while broad spectrum SPF protects against UVB and UVA rays . Our Passionflower & Argan Dry Oil Serum For Face is a highly concentrated, non-greasy SPF 30 perfect for the face and décolleté. It conditions and nourishes the skin so can be used daily as a facial moisturiser, with added benefit of being a high quality organic SPF.

Cover up where possible. Wearing sun protection isn’t enough to protect you from sun damage, especially on those hot, sunny holidays. When out and about add a lightweight kaftan over your bikini, you’ll look effortlessly chic and it will help to protect your skin from harmful rays.

Create a natural looking, flawless tan without any of the sun damage with our pHenomenal 2-3 Week Self Tan.

Use an organic SPF. If you simply must strut your stuff in just a bikini, use an all over sun protection spray that will save you from sun damage in a matter of minutes. Our Passionflower & Argan Dry Oil for body in SPF 25 and SPF 50 is great for this; not only will it give skin a stunning, dewy radiance, it will fight signs of ageing while it protects – amazing! Remember to re-apply every 1-2 hours when in the sun.

Stay out of the sun at peak times. Avoid the sun when it’s at its hottest, this is 10am-4pm. At this time the sun’s rays are at their strongest and can do the most damage to your skin. It’s the perfect time for a midday siesta or a cooling cocktail under an umbrella!

Protect your peepers. The sun isn’t just harmful to your skin; your eyes are also very susceptible to the sun’s rays. When the sun is shining, pop on a pair of sunglasses to block out harmful UVA and UBV rays. A great excuse to add to your collection of designer sunglasses…!

So don’t forget – if you Respect Your Skin, Protect Your Skin – you only get one chance at it.
